Temporary Residence and Work Permit (Jednolite Zezwolenie)

The Temporary Residence and Work Permit, commonly known as the 'Single Permit' (Jednolite Zezwolenie), is the most popular solution for non-EU citizens employed in Poland. It simplifies the immigration process by combining the right to stay and the right to work into one administrative decision and one document.

How the Single Permit Works

This permit is tied to your specific employer and position. It authorizes you to work only for the employer specified in the decision. If you change jobs or lose your job, you must inform the Voivodeship Office within 15 days and generally apply for a new permit (or amend the existing decision) within 30 days.

Application Requirements

To apply, you need to provide:

• Employment Contract: Or a civil law contract (Umowa Zlecenie).
• Health Insurance: Usually covered by ZUS if you are employed.
• Stable Income: Your salary must be at least equal to the minimum wage in Poland, regardless of your working hours.
• Labor Market Test: In some cases, your employer may need to obtain information from the Starosta (Labor Office) proving that no local candidate could fill the position. However, many exemptions apply (e.g., for IT specialists, citizens of Ukraine/Belarus/etc., or jobs on the shortage list).

The Role of Annex No. 1

A crucial document in this process is 'Annex No. 1' (Załącznik nr 1), which must be filled out and signed by your employer. It details your working conditions.
